gloomy outlook, glum mood,
longing hours, counting days,
unmet plans, forgotten places,
rope walk, invisible tether,
fake enthusiasm, irrational fear,
chained spirit, conditioned mind,
spaced queues, rationed supplies,
bare minimum, handful children,
shrinking world, houseful terrace,
hopeless nights, bleakly days,
ruthless sun, prickly heat,
dry mouth, wry smile,
blanched face, fleshy neck,
wrinkled skin, unkempt look,
unspent fun, nowhere to run.
blinking cursor, blank space,
withering words, cautionary tale.
