SWEET, small MIRACLES

Yeah!!! I am kinda overwhelmed. Just think about the following happening. You are in one of those really really happy moments of your day and are in your elements. Ok. I will tell you what I generally do when I am in that state.

I hum every song (my voice is really pathetic for a song but I still feel proud of my voice) that plays on the radio while I am traveling and if possible try to whistle all through the songs.

Get along with every song that you hear. I mean when I say get along I mean: feel sad for a really sad song and get peppy when a hit dance number plays. Basically empathize.

Pick up some really nice numbers that I might be able to whistle and sing as well. Whistle in low base all through my walk.

Mock all the people around me. ;-) (You should ask my brother about the mockery that I make of others when I hitch I ride with him.)

Race along the empty roads on the bike and sing/whistle one of those select few songs as aloud as possible. Well!! Again, Mahesh should be familiar with that.

I suppose you can assume that I did all of the above today while I was returning home. Now, what happened to make me overwhelm so much, that I have come to the extent of blogging about the same. OK. Now listen. I was in a really excited state, simply for the fact that I have not been in the happy-for-no-particular-reason types for a very very long time.

The song that I was singing/whistling was ‘Mellisayae…’ from the film ‘Romeo’. Though I don’t like the way it has been visualized (well I jus discovered, to my shock, that Microsoft Word says there is no such word called picturised), it is indeed a beautiful duet by Swarnalatha and Srinivas. The other one was ‘Azhagiya Theeye…’ from ‘Minnalae’. My mind should have chosen this song for the fact that it has a music-bit that one can easily whistle. I was alternating between these song all through my journey.

I reach my home in the same good spirits. The first job that I do when I come home will be to turn on the radio. I do this before I sleep and before I wake up. In fact, even when my mom wakes me up, the first thing that I ask her to do is to turn on the radio and then proceed with anything that she asks me to.

I switched on the radio as usual. To my surprise. I listen to the song ‘Mellisayae…’ playing somewhere in the midway. I was On-Top-of-the-World literally. I mean how can this possibly happen unless you are really really lucky!!!! This is not a so often repeated song in Radio Mirchi (yes, they generally repeat songs a lot). There is no chance that I could have picked it on the way because there are not many of these tea stalls that blares loud songs from the radio stations. I thought I should be really lucky.

I know this is not such a big thing but still, I am all surprised and so thankful for the same to have happened. Cool!!!!

Mellisaye is indeed a nice song with a good tune. The same unfortunately doesnt go for the video but the song is something I like a lot too. I love listening to music and I listen a lot. From the morning radio in the car to work to the night radio on my bedside until I go to sleep, its music all the time and its a whole lotta fun !
So enjoy !

Hey guys thanks a lot!!!! I hope all u guys who read the post also got triggered by the alacrity.

Krish - V day-a ada paavi - nambalukku ella naalum V day thaan!!!!

Saranyan - Thanks!!! :-)

Anu - the mood generally shows in my writing!!! in sync - so one can always judge the state in which i am, of course it goes without saying, its only if i opt to write abt it.

shantanu - yeah - these is a really nice feeling to live with - unfortunately it doesnt happen very often and even if it happens it is ephemeral!! :-( maybe if it happens too often one will not realise its value...

Citrus - thanks for ur comment - wht u say is true - these small, tiny things get lost in the life's rush - but if we make a conscious effort to find happiness even in small things that happen to us and feel blessed for that, we can go a long way and long hours without feeling the ennui.

ranga - thanks for the comment - i have the video of the song with me and happened to see it the same day - but i kinda lost the charm - there are many such songs that have let down our imagination - as in we wud have imagined smthin nice in our minds bfor we see the visual - but they wud have shot the song in a really pathetic way - think i ll take this up as a separate post.

Well related...
I wasn't sure where you were heading, for your start didn't reveal much. Nice way of bringing it out...

In all a nice post. I agree, it does get uncanny when such stuff happens. So many times things seem to appear as if bringing a pattern to prominance and the foreground. 'tis good that you brought it down on a blog. I used to fear that if I put it down (the many many things that I keep noting) I might never get it again...
I nevertheless note it down in a private journal ;-)

BTW-
"I do this before I sleep and before I wake up."

before you wake up???
That's spooky! :-))

Hey Renuka
It is bliss to feel happy for no particular reason :) enjoy maadi :)

I should check out Mellisaye song, have not heard it at all.

>>I do this before I sleep and before I wake up.
So sweet :))

eroteme - thanks a lot!!! yeah even i have the feeling that the start wasnt as revealing - thts because i dont plan the contents before i start - its all extempore writing.

The fear is probably bcos if we put it down on a blog, we might happen to see it more often than we normally wud - and the more often we see it, the more we yearn for smthin like that to happen - and in that process we might miss out on the actual fun that is happening around us - "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." John Lennon, "Beautiful Boy"

It shudnt have sounded spooky if i had written 'i do this before i sleep and before i know i am gonna wake up' :-)

saranya - thanks for visiting! yeah its bliss feeling so!!! I wonder how u missed the song - its a very good song.

Extempore writing? Hmmm. Nice.

Well, in my case that isn't the epicentre of the fear I referred to. Its more like like disclosing a secret and hence, not being entrusted with one thereafter. Like if I started feeling special then there wouldn't be more to colour my life. As I said, I do write it down in a private journal. It's just that I do not disclose it!! ;-)

Yup, that transformation sounds less spooky. I was envisioning you under soft wraps and your hand having a mind of its own, reaching out to the radio and turning it on (without you being aware of it!!:-)

I think I need a break...

I haven't heard of that song either. Coming to think about it, I haven't heard of any Tamil song newer than the ones in Boys/Kaaka-Kaaka (whichever was later).

reNUka said...

Eroteme - this is a pretty old song (1996)

U say, u havent listened to any song newer than boys/kaakha kaakha!! Seems like u shud catch up with a lot of tamil film music then... :-)

I just know the feeling :)) Small surprises make your day!!

Hey!!!! Thanks for the comment and the visit :-) to be frank within seconds of perusing ur blog, i kinda liked it, as it had a bit of tamil in it - will certainly take time and read ur posts!!!

Hi,
I'm pleasantly surprised to read this post. Many years back, when I was alone at home, I just turned on the radio (no FM those days) and "Mellisayae" song was playing and I kept listening with so much involvement as the song is soulful.Ur post brought back a nice memory that was tucked away in my mind.
